Student Ambassadors 2022–23

Student Ambassadors serve as a critical link between News Decoder and their school. They promote our program on campus, help organize webinars and workshops and strengthen student and faculty engagement.

 

 

African Leadership Academy (South Africa)

Kingsley Onyedikachi Aaron Onuigbo
Kingsley Onyedikachi Aaron-Onuigbo is a Nigerian, second-year student at the African Leadership Academy. He reads a lot of African history, specifically the relationship of Gender and Sexuality in pre-colonial west African communities. In his free time, he enjoys badminton and reading and writing history fiction.
ALA Vuyisile Magagula
Vuyisile Bawinile Magagula is a second-year student at the African Leadership Academy. From the Kingdom of eSwatini, she has a passion for tennis and reading science fiction. Her plans for the future include a career in medicine and making quality healthcare accessible to all Africans.

Yewon (Patricia) Jung is in her second year of high school at Chadwick International in South Korea. She is interested in human rights and literature. During her free time, she likes to play volleyball, workout and explore different cultures through film and music. In the future, she hopes to study law.

Sienna Chan is a second-year student at Chadwick School in the U.S state of California. She is interested in science and is considering becoming a forensic scientist.
Sage 2
Sage Silberman is a third-year student at the Chadwick School the the U.S. state of California. She aspires to be an astrophysicist and is interested in languages and understanding cultures. Through News Decoder, Silberman looks forward to engaging with youth across the world.

The European School Brussels II (Belgium)

Dóra Badacsonyi is a Hungarian student entering her sixth year of high school in the French section of the European School of Brussels II. She enjoys learning languages and is currently studying Chinese and German. She has a passion for History and Political Sscience and hopes to pursue a degree in a field that combines the two.

Irmak Kanyilmaz is a student at the European School of Belgium II. She enjoys doing research and learning about new concepts, especially in the sciences and mathematics. She likes taking on group work and sharing different points of view and ways of thinking.

Maria Josè Corredor Gualteros is a returning News Decoder Student Ambassador. She is a third-year high school student at Gimnasio Los Caobos in Bogotá, Colombia. She enjoys volleyball and is working on her future university plans and career goals. One day she hopes to play an active role in environmental and social causes.

Julieta Morales is in her third year of high school at Gimnasio Los Caobos in Bogotá, Colombia, and enjoys volleyball, music and travel. Her future plans include learning French or Portuguese and then making her way to Los Angeles to earn a master’s degree.

Valentina Roa is a 15-year-old student at Gimnasio Los Caobos in Bogotá, Colombia who loves volleyball. She plans to travel to the United States and explore the numerous opportunities available and study design.

Simón Rodríguez is a student at Gimnasio Los Caobos in Bogotá, Colombia who is passionate about music, communications and travel. He’s considering a career in architecture and plans to study abroad.

Aerin Atinsky is a third-year student at The Hewitt School in New York City. She is a member of the debate team and holds a leadership position on the Student Council as Co-Representative of her grade. Her favorite subjects are English and History.

Nadege Uwayezu is from Kigali, Rwanda, pursuing an Associate of Science in General Studies at Kepler. Her extracurricular activities include writing, performing poetry, theater, singing, knitting, hiking and traveling. Her plans for the future include growing her career as an author and pursuing further studies in literature and creative writing.

Ines Rachel Atosha is from Kigali, Rwanda, pursuing her a Bachelor’s Degree at Southern New Hampshire University under the Kepler program. She enjoys debating, reading and writing short stories. She likes to express herself through drawing and painting.

Her favorite subjects are English and French, and this year she is fascinated by her French Political Science class. Her favorite hobbies are dancing, taking photos, blogging and filming Youtube videos. In the future, she would like to become an entrepreneur.

Keya Dutt is from Chicago, Illinois, and is spending her second year of high school studying at School Year Abroad Italy. When in the United States, she attends the Latin School of Chicago. She has lived in Chicago, Tokyo, Detroit, Hyderabad, Shanghai and Perth. Her favorite subject is History, and outside of class she enjoys Model United Nations. In the future, she hopes to major in History or English at university and eventually become a political journalist.

Lusha Greer is in her third year of high school, studying at School Year Abroad Italy. She is from Los Angeles, where she attends Westridge School for Girls. Her favorite subjects are History and English, and outside of class, she likes to read and go to museums with friends. She is keenly interested in journalism and politics.

Alina Bunch comes from Austin, Texas, where she attends St. Stephen’s Episcopal School. She is in her second year of high school, currently attending School Year Abroad Spain. Her favorite subjects are English, History and Science. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, writing, playing the piano and playing volleyball. She aspires to be an oncologist.

Truitt Flink attends St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Austin, Texas, and is currently spending her third year of high school with School Year Abroad Spain. Her favorite subjects are History and English, and she enjoys baking, podcast hosting and video editing. A dual Swiss-American national, Flink hopes to travel the world while continuing to strengthen her skills in writing and media production.

Alina Sorkin-Camacho is from Florence, Massachusetts, and attends the Williston Northampton School. Currently she is spending her third year of high school at School Year Abroad Spain. Her favorite subjects are History and Spanish. She plays on her school’s volleyball team in the United States and in Spain loves cooking and ceramics classes.

Davina Naa Adjeley Adjei is a 16-year-old from Ghana in her third year of high school at SOS-HGIC. Her favourite subject is History. She loves sports, reading and debating, and is interested in the Model United Nations. In the future, she hopes to become a successful lawyer or work for the UN, all while travelling to as many countries as possible.

Ayeyi Baah is a Ghanaian in her third year at SOS-HGIC high school. She enjoys studying History and Biology, and learning about other cultures and art. She hopes to study medicine at university and loves to draw and paint in her free time. Through News Decoder, she hopes to discuss pressing issues with youth worldwide.

Annette Khosravi is in her final year at The Tatnall School in Wilmington, Delaware, in the United States. She is actively involved with her school’s Showcase and National Honors Arts Society Club. In the future, she hopes to study Environmental Sciences or Marine Biology.

Darian Harris is a third-year student at The Tatnall School and is from the U.S. state of Delaware. She is fascinated by learning new languages and is learning to speak French. She is keenly interested in Biology and Chemistry, and would like to become a doctor. Harris loves track and field and is one of the top runners in the state of Delaware for the 300 and 400 hurdles as well as the 400-meter dash. She is an active member of the Black Student Union Club at her school.

The Thacher School (United States)

Avery Lieb is a third-year student at The Thacher School in Ojai in the U.S. state of California. She enjoys friends, family, travel and spending time outside. Lieb believes that writing is the perfect way to connect with and inform local communities and the broader world.

Grace Zhong is a third-year student at The Thacher School in California from Sydney, Australia. She enjoys creative writing and music, and plays both piano and violin and composes original compositions. At school, she especially enjoys her STEM and humanities classes. While she is yet to determine her single field of study, she aspires to develop her global perspective through journalism and other media.

Margaret Zhang lives in Southern California and is currently in her third year at The Thacher School. She enjoys playing on her school’s sports teams and working with Thacher’s animal husbandry program. Academically, Zhang is especially interested in History and Math and hopes to pursue studies in the Political Economy in the future.

Radu Anghel is in his third-year of high school at Transylvania College in Romania. He has worked for the school newspaper from its inception, specializing in articles on economic issues. Outside of school, he enjoys sports. He wants to pursue engineering and computer programming after graduation.

Victor Pavel is a third-year high school student at Transylvania College in Romania. He loves writing about social issues around the world “because it is the key to understanding the world we live in.”
